SOFTWARE ENGINEER (Ruby /Dev Ops/ Video Streaming) - Central Sheffield

We are looking for a Software Engineer with excellent Ruby skills to work on our range of cutting edge video delivery products and services. This role will make use of the latest DevOps tools and techniques, utilising the AWS product portfolio and tools such as Spotinst, Rancher and Docker.

Working on our products designed for the broadcast and media/entertainment industry, the successful candidate will join the Vualto technical team and report to the Head of Products.

In this role you will:

  • Undertake software development tasks usually in Ruby to enhance our products, develop back end systems/APIs/Custom Workflows
  • Provide hand-on set up and configuration of cloud based video delivery workflows and Digital Rights Management (DRM)
  • Provide training / documentation to other operational staff who will support these services
  • Share best practices identified in daily work with members of other teams
  • Provide technical assistance to the Sales team where required
  • Have the opportunity to attend industry seminars

Skills we would like you to have:

  • Excellent back end Ruby development skills with knowledge of one or more of C#, Python, Java and Go
  • Some experience with Amazon Web Services and knowledge of the AWS product stack.
  • Experience and knowledge of several of the following technologies:
  • Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Mesos, Postgres, Redis, Elastic, MongoDB, SQL Server.
  • Experience working as part of a modern development team; working knowledge of pair programming, testing best practices, automation, peer review.
  • Practical experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, TDD).
  • Understanding of modern CI & CD tools and techniques Experience with version control systems (git or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy and consideration in all dealings with clients and other staff members
  • Willing to jump in on any problem as it emerges

SENIOR MOBILE DEVELOPER - Central Bristol or Central Plymouth

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Developer to lead and grow our iOS and Android Developers.
The successful candidate will join the Vualto Management team and help shape the future strategy of the business.

 

As SENIOR MOBILE DEVELOPER, you will:

  • Lead the existing team of iOS and Android developers and formulate a plan for growing the team to meet demands.
  • Work on the development of video based iOS or Android applications (depending on your skillset).
  • Maintain the roadmap for our range of mobile SDK products that allow playback/download of encrypted video.
  • Establish best practices and guidelines for the rest of the team.
  • Assist with pre-sales, ensuring that requirements are fully understood and helping with quotes and proposals.
  • Explore how our proposition works across other devices such as HbbTV, Chromecast and other connected devices.

 

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding and interest in the Digital Mobile industry.
  • Commercial experience of developing iOS or Android applications (Swift, Objective C, Kotlin, or Java) that have been submitted to relevant app stores.
  • Any experience of tvOS or AndroidTV would be useful.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of:
    • Git .
    • Deployment mechanisms such as HockeyApp/Mobile Center etc. to allow testing.
    • Build automation/CI such as Jenkins.
    • Automated testing: Unit testing /UI testing.
    • Agile working, creating user stories, and development boards like JIRA or Pivotal Tracker.
    • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy and consideration in all dealings with clients and other staff members.

SENIOR DEVELOPER - Central Bristol or Central Plymouth
.NET, Ruby or JavaScript specialist to work on Cloud based video delivery solutions. Must have experience of an MVC framework (Rails, ASP.NET MVC, Express), TDD/BDD, Agile development, RESTful Architecture.

A passion for using and learning about the latest technology is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical delivery of key video streaming projects as well as technically guiding their team.

3+ years of commercial experience is required although, you will be given training on all aspects of video technology. You will be required to travel within Europe from time to time.
